I’m using a 50/50 happy frog/oceans forest with about 10% boost in perlite. This is an accidental cross from another grower. It basically kept the gg4 look and color, but took on some of the FPP flavors. It’s absolutely delicious, but probably the hardest strain I’ve grown. Extremely lanky/thin but sorta rubbery stems. If you don’t net or stake, after about week 5 they droop to the floor.

I’ve ran it a few years then decided try some new strains. I kept one of the strains (Grape  pupil purple pheno) went to go back and had only 1 of 20 seeds grow, and didn’t think it was going to. It stayed small for like 3 weeks then finally took off. Now I’m fixing to make my own fems and store them properly so I never lose this strain. Feel very lucky i was even able to get it back 🙏

I think I paid about that. These came with a 6 inch square net and 4 inch.

Which is the best net the 4inch or the 6 I’m thinking maybe if I would have gotten a six inch square net that maybe I could shoot two limbs through each square instead of using just 1 can you please hit me back and let me know if the 6inch is better than the 4 inch I bought.Thank you again @atom.  I’m most appreciated to have you help me out with my grow my dude, thanks again @atom

Thanks man. I’m super excited about it. Last run wasn’t that great had power outages and I few times I underwater. It can be a fine line, I’d go in at night and they’d look fine, in morning they’d be droopy. This run I stuck to every 4 days water, every other water nutes.

Looking pretty much all milk now, with a few amber starting. Looking good for the Tuesday down date.

<p style=”padding-left: 40px;”>Well gang yesterday was the day, that bittersweet moment where your months of hard work come to an end. I’m extremely happy with this one, my very well be best grow to date. I went in thinking I had in the neighborhood of 2 hours of work, 6 hours later I emerged. Such heavy buds and lots of them. I’m expecting 5oz per plant but we’ll see. </p>

My heart dropped when I saw this, I thought it was mold but it was just a small bud that I must of knocked loose when taking out some leaves 😅

Beautiful as always, not sure how I missed all the post but I don’t check this section often.  Are you planning to run this for hash/rosin or keeping it as flower?  Are you finally fully stocked after running all that FF? lol

I’m just gana smoke this run. It turned out really good other than some fox tails because I decided I needed to turn light up the last week. I only went from 80 to 90% but they didn’t like it. It probably would have been better yet had it been on 70% or if it didn’t stretch so much. This strain has a freakish amount of stretching. Pretty amazing really.

Isn’t GG#4 known to foxtail pretty easily?  Do you mean the intensity of the light was too high or cranking the power up increased the heat and caused the foxtailing?  Usually that’s something I attribute to heat or genetics, not light intensity but I’m also learning I have a lot to learn about LED’s.

Edit to add: not gonna lie I’m a bit disappointed I won’t get to see more hash porn but I seem to remember you saying the FF has you nicely stocked for awhile.  So I guess I need to get off my ass and make some hash myself lol

Yeah i have a ton of hash stocked (not literally lol). It’s going to be a great winter and merry Christmas for some friends and family.

It does foxtail sorta but this is definitely from the light intensity. It’s not terrible but definitely sucks. Live and learn. I do have the old style sf4000 too,so it isn’t as spaced out as much as current models.

That’s one of the best parts of being a grower, sharing the harvest with family and friends.

What PPFD are you running where you start seeing issues with foxtails?

I don’t have a meter but I did use just simple light meter on my phone and it was like almost 100k in center which seems crazy high. Was about 60k on edge of net

Yeah lux my bad. Not sure how accurate it is. It’s just a free app called “light meter”

I started to notice yellow at about halfway through flower and the light was maxed on height so I turned it down to about 80%. It pretty much stopped it, but I made the dumb decision to turn it up. It’s not to big of deal, I just know not to do that lol. Never had this problem because they don’t normally grow that big. But I put them in 2 weeks extra veg to get used to LED and grow into net some.

How do you know it was light stress and not a nutrient deficiency showing due to higher growth rate rates from more intensity?  Not to say you’re wrong but if it’s showing in the new growth that could easily be a micro nute issue.

I just assumed because the buds further from the middle didn’t have the same problem. Around thr edge they looked premo.

It could be deficiency I suppose,I did cut off nutrients. At very least it’s possible it’s ph issue. I don’t check water as often as I should and it’s been raining alot. Sometimes it goes higher than normal and more ppm

I’m curious now as if the light intensity was limiting the growth and you had the nutes dialed in to be balanced at that level it makes sense you’d see a deficiency but that also suggests if you increased the nutes along with the light you may get bigger yields.  Although keep in mind I have no experience with LED’S an am extrapolating based off what I’ve seen growing under HID’S.

Something to chew over, see if it makes sense and would be worth experimenting with next time.

Definitely. I’m going to leave light alone this run, but I doubt these ones get as tall. Idk how much bigger they could get tbh. They were double netted and still they fell over. Definitely much nicer than the last run.

I was just showing my buddy pics of your crop while we enjoy Pho for lunch, there’s no doubt you’re pulling good yields.  It’s more about pushing knowledge for me as I’m always trying to figure out what’s limiting my grows to get the buds closer to outdoors in terms of size/phenotypic expression.  Although that’s my own obsessive nature lol.  As always thanks for answering my questions and helping me learn.

Same to you. Your comment does have me wondering though. I’m definitely going to check ph to be sure when I do just strait water. I checked this morning on the smaller tent, the PH was 6.6 and ppm was a bit high st 256 but kinda expect that this time of year with rain. In winter and dry months I can get it about 140-170. If I remember to run cold water at night and let it warm up, can get about 100.

I respect how you don’t let your ego make you defensive, a lot of time comments like mine get people’s back up as they feel criticised or like their being told how to improve when it’s more about co-learning and sharing info/ideas.  I love a good critique as it can often help me think about something I may not have considered.

I can see a bit of yellowing leaves in the first couple bud shots if that’s what you mean, otherwise it just looks like happy, sparkly flowers waiting to be smoked…
